Working in the gambling industry is a lot like a boxing gym. It’s fast-paced, exciting, and ruthless. There’s no room for passengers, and if you want to get ahead in either, you must be willing to work harder than the competition. Second best will never be good enough.
I joined Coral bookmakers in 2006 to help fund my boxing career. At the time, I was training at the world-famous Peacock Gym in Canning Town and studying journalism at the University of East London. But I quickly caught the betting bug.
After progressing through the broadcasting department, my passion for writing and sports saw me promoted to online, where I operated as a content writer on the customer-facing website and award-winning app.

Employed full-time by Coral at their head office in Barking and then Stratford following the boom of the London 2012 Olympics, I then relocated to Scotland after retiring from professional boxing due to injury. The cut and thrust of freelance is where my writing career took off.
In recent years I have been responsible for all content written, edited, and published to Coral’s online platform, including creating previews, interviewing some of the top names in sports, and helping drive traffic to the page. I am also the main contributor to Betfair for boxing, UFC and football, working closely with boxing ambassador David Haye.
